Supporting Women owned business

Supporting other cheerdocious women

You may have noticed that I’ve added some new items to the shop and maybe you’re wondering what that’s all about.  Okay, maybe it’s not on the top of your mind to wonder – that’s fair.

Here’s the thing – when moms are trying to pay for cheer, it’s not uncommon for women to either start a new little home biz or begin selling eyelashes, leggings, handbags, cosmetics  . . . you get the idea.  And when COVID hit, many women were furloughed or fired.  Now it’s more than just paying for cheer, it’s about making ends meet and helping sustain the family.

So I got to thinking, especially since cheerleading tanked last year which had a definite negative effect on this little biz, that maybe I could help support other women by sharing their products.

I started looking for products that were hand-crafted by women that would be fun or inspirational for my customers who are fun and inspirational moms, dads, and athletes.  All of the products featured in the “Mom Shop” fit the bill.

By purchasing items from the Mom Shop you are helping other women support their families, pay for athletes to compete, and really just helping grow the economy but empowering another woman.   Did you know that women-owned businesses represent a significant part of the economy?  By 2019, before the pandemic hit, there were about 13 million women-owned businesses in the United States, and those women employed about 9.4 million people.

Granted, not all of those 13 million are small ventures but small is the new big.   Even Mary Kay and LulaRoe started out small.

Wouldn’t you rather buy something that means more than just another dollar to (ahem) WalMart?  Each of the women I’ve purchased from has a back story and I’ve shared that story on the products so you can learn a bit more about the person behind those wonderful items.

As part of this new venture, I would really love to have your help!  Please contact me with your suggestions of what items I should look for to carry in the mom shop.  A cool hat you saw? A super cute bracelet set? Something really practical?  Let me know and I’ll see if I can make that happen.

As always I am grateful for customers like you who really make sewing and crafting for the cheer community fun and rewarding.
